Embarkation Day

So this is the first post from Aurora on our 2026 trip to Norway.

It all started yesterday at 2.15 am when we had to get up for our taxi to our 6 am flight to the UK. It all went very smoothly but after two taxi rides, two train journeys and one flight - all with suitcases as well as our backpacks which we aren’t used to - it was a long and tiring day. So we did little in Southampton other than a small bit of essential shopping (two shirts and a bow tie because he hadn’t brought any white shirts back to Portugal from the UK at the end of the summer 🤣) and stuff from Boots chemist. We were incredibly lazy and ate dinner in the hotel as well as breakfast this morning. We couldn’t be bothered to explore.

We boarded at 2.15pm today and it was a very easy process. After a small wander to remind ourself about the layout of the ship as well as a small beer, it was back to the cabin to unpack. There’s plenty of space but no decent sized drawers or shelves that will take men’s t-shirts so it was a bit of a juggling act. But all done now.

Decision - do we go to the main dining room to eat or off to the beach house for what they call a hearty American style meal which doesn’t require any dressing up. Let’s see.
